Once in Africa

Joy Adamson and Elsa

A touching story

For all to see in movie

Return to the wild

September Heights, day 30 - Free.

It was a true story of a lioness cub named Elsa who was brought up by a couple, George and Joy Adamson who lived in Africa. When the lioness grew bigger they decided that Elsa should be released into the wild. The movie received much acclaim from film-goers for the moving theme. It was based on a book by the same title, "Born Free".

Dear Hal,
I remember this episode but didn't see the movie! As rightly said it was a sensation at one time!

There was also a TV movie shown a long time back. Made by the same crew from Columbia Pictures. It was set in one of the National Parks in Kenya if I am not mistaken.

Dear Hal,
It has been a hectic few days at HH. Sept Hts is over. The next one is April Hts in 2013. But we have others in the meantime. There are 6 blog prompts below which are on a weekly basis. But if you choose to respond to each then you'll be writing a poem daily. I don't do that. I just pick one that I like and write may be 1 in 2 or 3 days. I have all of these on my blog roll. I can respond immediately when a prompt appears. You can do the same. Good luck and have fun

Thanks for the information, Hank. I see which one suits me and I shall go at my own pace.

I am amazed how you, Hank and AHS are getting so good at this. And doping it daily is truly a wonder. No I have no patient for that. I will just to my weekly posting. Even this is taking quite a bit of my time that I need for my other activities.

I do not even understand what 'prompt' is in contaxt of poetry! I will remain ignorant and enjoy occasional trips to your works.

This born free is so familiar as it all took place during my sschool days. I saw the film when it was first screened and remember the theme song which became the top hit then.

Dear Pak Cik,
You must give credit to Hank for his persistence and perseverance in goading and prodding me to keep writing. Just like exercising, you need company in order to motivate yourself in maintaining the momentum.
The term "prompt" in Haiku is just a word which is chosen to let the writer use the word in his haiku. It is a sort of a trigger which sets the mind in motion and make you think of how to apply it in your writing. It activates the idle mind so to speak. Hank is an accomplished poet and artist. I am nowhere near his prowess in those areas.
