On the Learning Curve
I have been attending classes on every saturday mornings in Kota Damansara together with my wife and daughter trying to pick up the Arabic language. I had a very limited exposure in learning the language, apart from reciting the Al-Quran and saying my prayers in Arabic during the five times a day solat, though I know a bit of the meaning through the translation but acquiring the ability to write simple sentences in Arabic, one has to be on a learning curve. Although I found learning the language at this stage of my life is challenging but since I have the company of wife and daughter in learning so I might as well carry on. My colleague, Dato' Ishak Ibrahim have been learning Arabic for the past one year, but the approach taken is more focussed on mastering the grammar first rather than vocabulary. I prefer the approach taken by the Academy of Arabic Language whereby one is exposed to vocabulary and pick up the grammar as we go along. Now whenever I read the Al-Quran, some of the words in the verses seemed familiar and this motivates me to keep on to be on the learning curve. May ALLAH S.W.T. gives me the perseverance to continue as far as I could on the learning curve. InshaALLAH.

Tahniah dan syukur alhamdulillah, bro. kerana belajar alloghatu alarabiah. Ana adrasu aidhan (belajar juga) tapi as you say the learning curve tu menurun sepanjang. Lain-lain boleh ingat tapi nahunya teruk betul. Kaifa anta al aan? Kalau kita cakap sikit-sikit, salah pun tak kisah, mungkin lebih cepat pandai. Ilal liqa. Ana funya ferut sudah lafar, lam akul, hehehe.
Sdr Norzah,
Ma'a Salamah. Ana adrasu lughatul arabiah fi alakadamiah alarabiah almalaziah fi Kota Damansara. Ma haza adrus lughatul arabiah?
My ustazah says practice selalu dirumah baru cepat dapat. Tapi kita selalu cakap Melayu dan Inggeris saja, menyebabkan learning curve menurun.
Ana adrassu alloghatu alarabiah min alkitab faqad (sahaja). La mudarrisu au madrasatun. Walakin qad darasatuha min al-Jami'ah Malaya kthiran sanatan qadiman (banyak tahun dulu). Qad nasi (lupa) kullu annahwa(nahunya) wal aqsamul kalimatuha (parts of speech). (Qad tu tanda masa lau - fiil Madi).
Sudahlah dulu, Ilal liqa', ma'as salamah. Tolong betulkan mana yang salah, hehehiii....
Sdr Norzah,
Anta tatakallama loghatul alarabiah hasantu.
Nampaknya Sdr masih boleh berbahasa Al-Quran dengan baik. Tak sia sia Sdr belajar Arab di MU, maybe dgn Ismail Nawab, mudarris di Islamic Studies dept. Mabruk ! ( Congrats!)

Sdr Hali, ana cuma tulis b. arah dgn huruf jawi. bolehlak rupanya. kalau nak cuba carilah program transliterasi dgn mengoogle "arabic writing". tidak, bukan pandai, sekedar mencuba dan belajar. salam.
Sdr Norzah,
Thanks for the information. But I just have to learn how to paste it here. Can you give me some clue, not in arabic please.
Shukran.
Senang je. Highlight apa yang dah tulis, klik edit dan copy. Lepas tu pergi ke kotak "Leave your comment", klik dlm kotak supaya nakpak cursor, pergi kat edit dan klik paste. Apa-apa pun boleh copy and paste ke dalam blog. I copy all useful info dan paste dlm
blog khas (safe saja jangan publish) atau dlm halaman Words. Trylah. Salam. Tulisan Arab takleh copy dlm Words, keluar huruf arab tak bersambung.
Dear Hal,
Go for it! 3-in-1 is a good strategy. Additional Language is always a bonus. More so Arabic. Best wishes for a family success.
It is fantastic, the two of you communcating in Arabic. Congratulations. I know alif diatas aaaa dibawah iiii dihadapan uuuu. Never too old to be on the learning curve.
Pak Cik,
Tolong doakan supaya learning curve tidak mendatar atau menurun, kerana belajar bahasa Arab perlu banyak latihan dirumah.Soalnya kita bukan 'native speaker' sebab bahasa seharian Arab lain sikit daripada yang standard, walupun tak begitu banyak bezanya.
yeayyyy Abah! Happy to know that you're enjoying classes with us although you always say you tak nak buat homework.
Jayyid Jiddan!!!
Salam all
Oh boy, seronok tengok depa dok dingdong back and forth in Arabic. My daughter dok pi Al-Khadeem belajar Arabic tapi maknya sibuk blogging..hehehe.. Learning curve notwithstanding, you are doing a-ok la tu..
PS: I am staking a spot next to Pakcik Al-Manar where Jawi is concerned.. :)
Makcik Kama at Tarawis,
Waalaykumsalam, and thank you for the encouragement.
Since your daughter is also learning " Lughatul al-Arabiah " why not join in at Al-Khadeem?
