Farewell to Ramadhan 1430

My experience during the Ramadhan of 1430 Hijrah is indeed a fulfilling one because I am blessed with good health and feeling a sort of wellness which I am very grateful to ALLAH S.W.T.

Although I supplicate for the meeting of Lailatul-Qadar which promised the reward which is better than a thousand months, only ALLAH knows all. According to Imam Al-Ghazali if the "Puasa" begins on a saturday, then the Lailatul Qadar falls on the 23 rd night of Ramadhan, which falls on the night of September 13, 2009 AD. It is also said the morning following the Lailatul-Qadar would be neither hot or cold but just in between and the morning has a bright glow. I noticed that it rains slightly that particular morning and it was pleasantly cool and in fact the whole day remained shady from the normally hot spells and sudden downpour in Klang Valley at this time of the year.

I believe that as long as one performs all the obligations of the fast in accordance with Shari'ah then you would be conferred with that most blessed night. Thus I say farewell to this year's Ramadhan sadly because there's no other month in the Muslim calendar that carries such great significance when the Al-Quran was first descended from the Lauhul-Mahfuz to Baitul-Izzah, and then only it was revealed in stages over a period of 23 years to our beloved Prophet Muhammad S.A.W. through the Archangel Jibril A.S.

InshaALLAH let us pray that we be given the Blessings and Mercies from ALLAH S.W.T. and be bestowed the grace of seeing the next Ramadhan 1431 Hijrah.

OP Abdulhalimshah,
When i was younger, i look forward to celebrating raya.
Of late,Raya is less exciting than before.
Maybe i am growing old.
Maybe i am beginning to see the real meaning of Ramadan.
Health wise i am blessed that i am kept healthy and my food consumption is also lesser.
It is only occasionally that i eat during sahor, prefering to just take 3 kurma and my coffee only.
Maybe, my job does not require so much energy, and hence, i can survive on one main meal only.
Overall, Ramadan seems to me to be a month of reflections and memories, where the mind sometimes wanders back into time.

Like you , i too hope and pray that i will see the next Ramadan, where i hope, i will do better.
Selamat Hari Raya on achieving a blessed Ramadan.

OP Azudin,
We have been reminded repeatedly by the verse 183 of Surah Al-Baqarah that fasting is prescribed upon those before the umat Nabi Muhammad (SAW) and also those who are Believers when it was made compulsory on the second year of Hijrah.
For many of us, Ramadhan is now more awaited than Syawal, especially those who have been endowed with the Hidayah. Only those who find fasting an extremely difficult obligation do not see the beauty of performing the third pillar. There are those who fast but do not perform the salat ( prayer 5 times a day ). That is why there is a hadith which refers to many who fast but only derive "lapar dan dahaga sahaja" and lose its meaning and significance to our existence as Mu'minin and mu'minat. Let us supplicate to ALLAH S.W.T. we become better Muslim at every Ramadhan.

I looked at the comment made before me,aofuad, and strangely found myself thinking along the same line as his. Am I getting very old? Of course I am but is it the reason?

Selamat Hari Raya

Dear Pakcik,
Age is not the criterion for feeling as such. To my mind, it is the realisation of what is our sole purpose of existence, which is none other than to serve ALLAH S.W.T. and as you had rightly said, when we serve mankind we serve HIM ultimately. Wallahuwa'lam.
